January 2017 Newsletter

Stake Presidency Message

The resurrected Savior taught to the more righteous part of the Nephites the following "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

What do we treasure? What are our hearts and minds set upon?

As we consider what matters most to us, may we align our hearts and desires with those things of eternal worth and importance.

We look forward to this New Year as a stake with emphasis on inviting our friends and neighbors to attend sacrament meeting with us, read and understand the teachings of the Book of Mormon with us, and participate in family history and temple work with us.

May we be unified in our desires and efforts as a people of the Youngstown Stake.

Stake Relief Society Message

So our stake Relief Society theme for 20017 is:
“Find Her, See Her, Walk Beside Her”
President Monson says, “We are the Lord’s hands here upon the Earth, with mandate to serve and lift His children.”

There are three goals that go along with the theme Find Her, See Her, Walk Beside Her:
1.      Be His Hands
2.      Give effortless love
3.      Grow with Her
We are all Heavenly Fathers hands; we are His diverse tools. We need to first find her. We find her by noticing the Sister, discovering who she is, and seeing her as she is. Accepting her for who she is, what she can bring to the table. Not judging her, even if she does things that you may find odd or disorganized. Seeing her as she is now, who she was once before, and (more importantly) that she like you is a daughter of God and is going places.

When we see our Sisters we can be God’s hands by giving her effortless love. Effortless love is charity with relaxed service. Our Stake Relief Society President Stephanie Smith explains what this is in her words.
“Effortless love means to come to understand our Sister deeply, to discover what she needs, to listen to her soul, and to give her care that is intentional and personal.” – Sister Stephanie Smith.
Walk with her means to me to progress forward with her. We all have and are at different levels of understandings and knowledge of the Gospel and this life’s joys plus struggles. How much easier will it be for both Sisters to walk together, offering strength and support?

In closing, I would like to bear my testimony that I know and believe in God’s Love for me and all of His children. I believe in missionary work and I know Jesus Christ not only lives but He lives through us and our positive actions. Jesus Christ is our big brother and through Him only can we return and be with our Heavenly Father. I hope that this New Year, 2017, will be bright and full of positive growth in all areas of your life. Thanks for reading!
